If the shoe fits

What is it with shoes? She’s only just one and already my daughter is obsessed with them, pulling them out of cupboards, from under beds and even trying to pull them off my feet. And once she’s got hold of them what does she do? Eat them of course, what else? Very hygienic.  Is this preoccupation gender specific or do little boys do this too?

Now, that she’s almost walking, we succumbed and bought her her first pair of ‘proper’ shoes – apparently her sequin trainers and uggs do not pass muster. Already it seems she’s steadier on her feet and the ‘first steps’ seem like they may be a little closer. Let's see what happens....

These aren't the 'proper shoes' but couldn't resist.

  1. My daughter is two and is obsessed with shoes! I have a constant battle with her about which ones she is going to wear each day, I don't remember ever being interested in shoes until I was like 14yo, they are growing up in such a different generation, she has 8 pairs for this coming Autumn/Winter! Although I would like to point at that half of those are hand me downs for her cousin and two pairs were gifts, but still I'm sure I only had like one maybe two pairs when I was a toddler! She loves wearing mine too!

    1. Does she have more shoes than you? That's when I'd start worrying!

  2. My nearly three year old does have new shoes than me! She loves them. In our local Next they have a back wall covered in shoes and she stands there admiring them! I'm not obsessed by shoes at all so it is very strange to me!

    1. Aren't they the coolest? I think Uggs work (ie look) much better the smaller they are. My adult size ones just look like great galumphing elephant shoes. :)
